On January 1, 2012 the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class XVI chose as their class project to design and build a dog park for our community. We are working closely with the Friends of the “Bark Park” organization to deliver a safe, off-leash park without detriment to nature and within the guidelines of city ordinances. Our project deadline is May 2012 and we are asking the community for help in raising the funds necessary to complete our project.

The City of Rockport has generously provided us with almost 2 acres of wonderful habitat adjacent to our already existing Memorial Park system. Our plans include a confined area for large dogs and a separate area for small dogs, watering stations for both human and canine, waste disposal facilities, benches, etc. as funds allow. The City of Rockport,, has agreed to maintain the area as part of the city’s park system.

The Rockport-Fulton area is well known as a tourist destination and has a number of RV parks that would welcome the opportunity to add the availability of a bark park for use by their guests and pets.

We are excited to offer this amenity to the community and we hope you and your pets will appreciate it, too.
